*No SDIP points will apply for Bodily Injury if the insured furnishes proof that costs were solely for diagnostic purposes.
**The greatest number of points will be applied for at-fault accidents resulting in Property Damage and Death or Bodily Injury
Driver's license points can be prevented or reduced in one of three ways:
- having the charges dismissed,
- contesting the charges and being found not guilty, or
- being convicted of a less serious offense.
Conviction of a less serious offense may occur when the evidence is insufficient to convict on the charged offense, but the evidence is sufficient to convict on another less serious offense. For example, a reckless driving conviction carries four driver's license points. If this offense is converted to a different moving violation or a non-moving violation (Improper Equipment), the offense may zero to three driver's license points.
North Carolina's DWI laws are some of the toughest in the nation.
A DWI Conviction can raise your insurance rates up to 400%! You don't have to lose your license for a year. If you are a first time offender you are eligible for a limited privilege after 10 days, pretrial and are eligible for a limited driving privilege on the date of conviction.
We work with our clients to obtain limited driving privileges, which include driving to work, business related driving, delivery and pick-up of children from school, and driving to medical appointments. Our DWI defense lawyers analyze each point in the DWI case-the stop, the tests, the arrest-to determine whether there is a chance to get the case dismissed or the charges reduced.
Our DWI defense team has worked with local drivers and drivers from outside the area who were picked up for DWI while driving in the region for business or vacation to help them keep their driving records clean, their licenses valid, and their insurance rates low.
